Unilateral Facial Neuralgia, Burning Sensation. What Can It Be Confirmed As?

Unilateral facial neuralgia (left side) for approx 7 weeks. Pain can be described as burning feeling similar to a razor burn. intense Inner ear pain (again on the left side) that disrupts sleep. Have been to the Dentist and an the Emergency Room. The dentist and the Attending ER Physician both dismissed the pain which I believe is Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia . Is there any way to confirm this without an MRI ?

Hello and thank you for posting your query on HCM
The symptoms which you are describing can be trigeminal neuralgia.
You can visit your physician and get medicines prescribed.
The disappearance of pain confirms the diagnosis.
However, I would like to know that have you got similar problem before.
?
If yes then this goes more in favour of this entity.

Bye and tale care

the best way to confirm the pain of TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA (TN) is by drug CARBAMEZAPIME, available with trade name of MAZETOL-100 mg/200mg.
During the attack of Trigeminal neuralgia, give the patient the above said drug in 100 mg dosage, if the pain subsides, this is to a large extent, the TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA ONLY.
also, the absolute absence of pain in between two attcaks is one of the another strong contender for TN

hello
the symptoms that you narrate speak of trigeminal neuralgia
the best way is to consult maxillofacial or neuro specialist who will prescibe you with trigritol
if the pain stop than its definately trigeminal neuralgia
the only problem with trigritol is that once you start taking it ,initially you will feel some side effects such as dizziness
now once when you get your diagnosis confirm you can either opt for medication or even you can go for a surgery which would be a permanent cure
best of luck

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your clinical symptoms i suppose that you are suffering from trigemminal neuralgia.
There are several test which can be done to confirm the diagnosis, like giving local anesthesia in the affected region and look for the presence of pain, administration of carbamazepine.
I would suggest you to consult to an Oral Surgeon and get the checkup done.
Avoid anxiety and stress.
Take complete rest.

Hope this helps out,

Regards..
