Used Bleach, Burning Eyes, Troubled Breathing, Chest Pain. Bleach Poisoning?
yesterday at 4o clock i bleached a pants, i didnt dilute the bleach i just poured it on my pants directly then left the bathroom for it to soak. and 3 hours later my eyes started to tear up and burn for about 5 mins on and off. .then i started having trouble breathing. i went to bed thinking it would be gone by now but now i'm at work and i'm having slight chest pains and trouble breathing. do i have bleach poisoning? what should i do?
Hi, Bleach may be made of of sodium/ calcium hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide which are strong chemicals. These usually cause chemical injury when comes in contact with eye or skin.I believe you should do a thorough wash of your eye with water and put some tear substitute and a low dose steroid drop like fluorometholone 4 times a day along with some antibiotic drops .If irritation of eyes still persists for more than 3 days show to your ophthalmologist. If you have too much breathing problem and chest pain then show a physician as soon as possible...TC...Dr Ajay S Kar
