Using Heroin And Fentanyl. Trying To Detox. How Often Should The Blood Pressure Be Checked?
My niece has been using heroin and fentanyl (sp?) for a long time. No detox center will take her in because of the fentanyl. She is coming to my house tomorrow to detox here and I am really afraid. What do I do for her? What will help? From what I understand, a persons blood pressure can both skyrocket and plummet at different times. How often should I check her blood pressure and what are dangerous levels?
Hello...... Thanks for your query. I understand your concern for your niece. Heroin and fentanyl are opioids that can result in respiratory depression, fluctuations in blood pressure and cardiac side effects as well. You can monitor blood pressure once in every 6 hours i.e four times a day. That should be more than sufficient. I would advise you to enquire for inpatient admission in deaddiction centres as i do not think use of fentanyl would be an absolute contraindication for admission. Wish her good health.
