Using Nicoderm Patches And Zyban For Smoking Cessation. Reddish Eyes And Insomnia. Are These Side Effects?
Hi Doctor, I quit smoking on 09 Oct 12 and started taking the 21 mg nicoderm CQ patches along with Zyban . I started taking Zyban on 2 Oct 12 and had no side effects from it minus slight insomnia . Since i started taking the patches I ve noticed my eyes getting progressively redder as if bloodshot, but only on the sides closest to my nose. It is causing some discomfort but is tolerable enough not to go to the Doctor for. My right eye is also about 3 times worse than my left. Would this be caused by the nicotine patches i started to take? Or is that just unheard of?

Redness of the eyes is not a known side effect of the nicotine patch and has only been reported in 0.02% of persons using zyban according to a study conducted.
Other causes of red eyes would be: dry eyes, infection, allergies, blood, trauma
If is continues or is associated with symptoms such as decreased vision, light sensitivity, pain, discharge- you may want to consider visiting your doctor for treatment.
