Vaginal Bleeding. Ultrasound Shows Closed Cervix And Fetal Pole Present. Prescribed Duphaston. What Will Happen Next?
Hi, I am currently 6 weeks and 3 days AOG, I had vaginal bleeding a week ago and according to my last ultrasound which was 3 days ago, my cervix is closed, present fetal pole but can t determine heartbeat . Yesterday, doctor gave me Duphaston, but I am still bleeding and it seems heavier. What will happen next? I don t want to lose my baby since this is the first! Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for your query,
If the ultrasound shows no heartbeat even at 6 weeks then it may be a case of blighted ovum. For its confirmation repeat ultrasound is done after one week. Duphaston is a progesterone given for sustaining pregnancy and is of little help. It seems you are suffering from threatened abortion which may progress to abortion if bleeding increases. You should be on bed rest and take the medicines as suggested. This is what you can do at this stage.
Take care and good luck
Hope it helps you..
