Vaginal Ultrasound Shows Thickening Of Left Uterus. Suggested D&C. Another Doctor Would Allow The Thickness Upto 11mm. Opinion?
I had a vaginal ultrasound 4 days ago and was told the right side of my left uterus (I have a bicornuate) has a thickness of 8 mm. while the left side of the same uterus measures 4mm. Evidently my dr. has recommended frequent ultrasounds (3Xyear) to watch this uterus. She says a D&C is necessary now since it continues to thicken, however, my 2nd opinion Dr. says he would allow a thickness of up to 11mm. before he would recommend a hysteroscopy. There is no pain and no bleeding. What should I do? Thank you!

Since the thickening of the endometrium is asymptomatic and you are having regular periods, D&C is not immediately required. We can wait and monitor any further thickening by serial ultrasound scans.
