Vomiting, Hand Numbness. Have Diabetes, Smoker. Any Clues?
I am recovering from a nasty bout of vomiting. Got sick last Thurs. and just back to work today. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and smoker. I was in bed (when not vomiting). I noticed right hand has gone numb approx. 3 times over the past week, maybe because I sleep with it under my pillow, maybe not. I did not eat anything during this period I was sick except for 1/2 bowl Cheerios, a few tablespoons of applesauce, 1 small tapioca pudding, and f few tablespoons of green beans. I drank mostly ice water and some gingerale. Kept checking blood sugar and noticed that it was going up despite the fact that I was not eating. Any clues?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Since ,how many days , you are having diabetes ? What is you age , at present? Presumed that your age is around 40-45 years. A diabetic, numbness in arm ( mind it, it is not due to pressure exerted by pillow or head ). This is an indication of involvement of nerves due to diabetes. In my opinion , you should consult a Diabetologist and get his opinion. Lipid profile is also very important . Smoking is very dangerous for you being as a diabetic. Hope I have answered your question. If further any question I will help. Good luck. Dr. HET
