Waking Up Choking, Not Enough Saliva, Obstruction At The Back Of Throat
Hi I am a 50 year old female I am having a lot of trouble with choking! Began about 4 years ago waking up choking now I have it during the day as well. Don t seem to have enough saliva but tears ok.I feel like I have something in the back of my throat and when I push on my glands in my neck (just under my chin ) it starts off the coughing choking thing by a big pricking sensation in my throat.
Hello I am Dr Ravinder Sharma ENT surgeon
On the basis of information provided it appears you have either a affliction of salivary gland causing dryness in mouth and throat. Feeling of choking sensation during sleep can also be because of obstructive sleep apnoea or congestive heart failure.
I would advise you for a ENT consultation and a physician consultation to resolve the issue. You may further need complete blood count, endoscopy, sialoendoscopy and chest X ray for the diagnosis.
I hope this answers your concerns. Feel free to contact me if your need more information on this
With warm regards
Ravinder Sharma
