Want To Know About Lymph Node Sampling And Its Effectiveness.

Hi, I m looking for information on lymph node sampling, using the daVinci method. I have had a hysterectomy, and was diagnosed as having stage 1 endometrial cancer. I was wanting to know about how the procedure is done, and what to expect as far as short term and long term effects. Thanks, janet foster

Hi. From your history ,I could gather that you had stage 1 endometrial cancer for which hysterectomy was done and it must be vaginal hysterectomy and since it showed endometrial cancer, so lymph node sampling by laparoscopic procedure , which is da Vinci method (not opening the abdomen and seeing inside abdomen by camera).Lymph node sampling is just to see involvement of lymph nodes in cancer
and whether they need removal .If abdominal hysterectomy was done, they would have taken lymph nodes then only, if involvement suspected and depending on how much uterine muscle, cervix and parametrium is involved(tissue around uterus) surgery is different.
Thanks.
