Was Bitten By My Puppy. Had Anti-tetano, Verorab. Will I Have Rabies In Blood?
Hi.. i was bitten by my puppy last march 24, 2013. I had anti-tetano and verorab vaccine the same day and told by the doctor to come back for 4 more sessions of verrorab vaccine. But my dog did not die and i decided not to undergo my last vaccine which is today. Willi have rabies in my blood? And the bite was just small and it was not deep though there were few blood wjen i squeezed my wound.

Even tough your dog did not die (which usually implies that your dog does not have rabies), you should still complete the course of verorab vaccine. As the full course produces good level of antibodies. In case your bit again, two doses of the same vaccines would be sufficient to boost up your immunity instead of the 5/6 doses you have had to take now.
And keep the current vaccination document carefully so that they ll be useful in case you get bit again.
And the severity of the bite depends on the site of bite. If there was even a single drop of blood, it comes under the category of a severe bite.
In case you have a severe bite next time from a stray/unimmunised/rabid dog, you do not need to take anti-rabies serum (which is injected around the wound in severe cases) if you are immunised completely this time.
So there are lot of benefits to completing the full course of vaccination now. It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to rabies, as rabies cannot be cured.

You must take last dose of rabies vaccine.
Thouh you are not at risk of rabies as dog is safe and you had vaccination too.
But if you take last dose of vaccine you will have be protected for another one year.
If you get another dog bite in one year,you will be protected from rabies and do not need full vaccination next time.

if your dog got rabies it would have died after 11 days...
if your dog is safe now..then no need to worry about rabies and its presence in blood...you can safely omit the last dose..
if your puppy was not vaccinated,,get it vaccinated after consulting Veterinary doctor...
