Was In Auto Accident. Diagnosed With Stable Compression Fracture. Will Walking Fast Make It Worse?
I was in an auto accident in November, and was just diagnosed with a stable compression fracture to T-11. I'm a dog walker, and I'm just wondering how this will effect my career. I walk a lot of big dogs, and they can yank on me pretty hard if they see a squirrel or a cat. Does this increase the possibility of aggravating it, or making it worse?
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. The word "Stable" by itself is self explanatory and will not usually cause any trouble for you. However even stable compression fractures will at times cause impingement over the spinal cord or nerve roots when they are subjected to excessive load as in "sudden forward bending" and lifting heavy weights. So just avoid these activities and carry on your job normally. Hope this helps
