Water Went Accidently Into Baby's Ear While Bathing. How To Prevent This?

I need your advice about getting water into baby s ear. When I washed my 3 months old baby s hair today, a quite bit of water got into his left side ear accidentally. So, I turned his head on the side and tilted him over to get the water out quickly. Now, I letting him to sleep laying on his side on my lap. What shall I do now? My baby can get ear infection from getting water into his ear?? He used to turn his head to look everything in these few days while taking tub bath. So, what can I do to prevent the water get into his ears? I looking forward your reply.Thanks.Wah.

Hello Khaing,

Thanks for the post.
Water getting baby's ear is seldom a problem to worry about. Besides it causing some abnormal sensation of presence of water bubbling sound in the ear, there is nothing much to worry about. The water usually clears off on its on, never attempt to introduce anything inside to the remedy the situation. Your attitude is a good one. Just turn the child side ways to help much of the water out, but some will stay in due to surface tension. Will dry off thanks to heat from child. Water in ear can lead to ear infection (and I do not know if even contaminated water can lead to ear infection).
Unfortunately there is not much to prevent water into the ear. Just try avoiding bathing thoroughly the ear or turning the child's ear upward while applying water into it.

Hope this helps

HI
THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUERY ON HEALTHCARE MAGIC
getting water in ear cause no problem unless there is perforation into the ear . this will cause only sensation that some thing is present into the ear and baby will itch the ear. . you have to do nothing to remove water from ear except the positioning the wet ear down .
no possibility of ear infection with water only its is contaminated .
you have to just take care during bathing to prevent air entry .

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
There will be no problem of entering of water in to a normal ear. Infection may be aggravated in ears with tympanic membrane (ear drum) perforation.
When child lower that ear, the water will drain out side, at that time you can clean his ear with a soft clothe without entering into ear canal.
You can prevent water entering into ears by keeping cotton just in the ear, but not inside the ear.
And immediately you should remove it and clean the ears after bathing.
Hope I have answered your query.
