Watering Left Eye Since Birth, Blocked Tear Duct. Tried Massaging Lacrimal Duct. Cure?
Hi, I have a 10 month old daughter whose left eye has been watery since birth. I was told by her pediatrician that she had a blocked tear duct, and that it should subside within months. Every time i would take my daughter for F/U vists, she would prolong the time frame in which her lacrimal duct should open. i have tried to massage her lacrimal duct to get it toopen with no avail.
Usually blocked tear duct in infants, resolves on its own by around 1 year of age.
And the usually recommended treatment is a regular massage.
If after regular massage too, the condition does not improve, then you will be referred to an Eye Specialist who will do minimally invasive procedures like probe and irrigation- done as outpatient procedure.
Since you are very anxious, you may visit an Ophthalmologist and get his opinion too.
Hope my answer helps you.
Wish your daughter good health.
