What Are Chances Of Surviving After Stroke On Left Hemisphere Brain?
Dear Doc, A male 42 years old had a stroke on his left hemisphere brain last July. He has slurred speech. He walks. His right arm and fingers are still not coordinating. He has been on stroke medication from the hospital and family has tried ayurvedic treatment. What are his chances of recovery and how long would it take? Thank you. A concerned friend.
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Unfortunately it seems that the stroke has irreparably damaged an area of his brain leading to the symptoms. Improvement is expected thanks to compensation from unaffected areas, however most improvement happens during the first 6 months not a lot is expected afterwards generally. Every patient is unique though and in certain individuals some percentage of improvement can happen even later, though still to a limited extent. Physical therapy is the best therapy to aid his recovery.
I hope to have been of help.
