Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My teenage son recently mixed his concerta 54mg with alcohol. Thi was done deliberately, as his friends shared he would be able to stay up all night. As the parent I was not informed of his experiment and unfortunately, we are not aware of everything 17 year old do. However, the level of drunkendness alarmed him as did his heart rate. Is this a normal reaction when mixing these two?
Yes, mixing the two can cause really bad tachycardia. While Concerta raises the heart beat when it is in the system, alcohol causes the same a few hours after intake, as it starts leaving the body. If your son is fine now, there is no need to worry.
Best wishes.
