What Are Fever And Throat Infection In An Infant Post An Injury Suggestive Of?

Hi,
My 10 mo old has a fever. Earlier today he fell 1 step down on a cement. I ddnt see the actual fall but was fine after a brief cry. Everything seems normal until when I noticed he has a fever of 39.6 at night time. His older brother is sick though with throat infection. Could a fever due to the fall or most probably he got the infection? I just need reassurance.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have fever and throat infection in an infant post an injury . It can lead to upper respiratory tract infection if not treated properly . It seems to me that throat infection in probably not related to injury. I would suggest you to apply warm compresses on neck externally . Take paracetamol for fever.

Visit pediatrician once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin along with anti inflammatory and anti pyretic . Doctor may also prescribe antiviral anlong with anti histamine.

Take soft foods that can not cause irritation to the throat. Drink lukewarm water throughout the day as it can provide relief. Milk boiled with a pinch of turmeric taken at bedtime for can be relieving as it has antimicrobial properties.
