What Are Recurring Itchiness And Tingling Sensation In Feet And Hands Suggestive Of?

my 55 year old husband yesterday was on the golf course and experienced itchiness and tingling in his feet and hands migrating up to his buttocks as well as a feeling of indigestion. Sensation went away after about 15 minutes. EMTs came, ran EKGs which came back normal but thought he should go to the hospital. We went to the hospital and he was admitted. EKG, Telemetry overnight and heart attack blood work all came back fine, but he had an elevated D-Dimer of 2275 so they did a Cat scan of chest as well as US of legs both of which came back normal. The hospital was stumped. The only two things that were not normal were: the D-Dimer and a white blood cell count of 13. He is on a daily regimen of Centrum, Atenolol 25 mg, Crestor 10 mg, but yesterday morning in addition he took an Arthrotek because he was experiencing some shoulder pain which he periodically has. He is 5 9 tall, 170 lbs, exercises 45 minutes a day on an elliptical machine. He recently had his annual check-up and his lipids and cholesterol all looked normal. His blood pressure tends to elevate in white coat situations so at the hospital it was around 150 over 85 at times. (he has worn a 24 hour monitor at home and got a 125 over 70 reading). His past history includes a micro discectomy in 2011 and radical prostatectomy in 2010. He is currently being monitored every 6 months due to a stable PSA of .12 inspire of having had the prostate removed. We plan to see his primary care physician per hospital suggestion but they let him go home several hours ago. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to peripheral neuropathy.

For that you may require MRI back, nerve conduction studies, vitamin b 12 levels after neurologist consultation.

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition.

You may require tablet pregabalin and multivitamin after consultation.

Continue physical therapy.

Hope I have answered your query...
Let me know if I can assist you further.
