What Are Stuffy Nose, Deep Cough And Breathlessness Suggestive Of?
I felt what I thought was a chest cold coming on yesterday at work. I ended up having a stuffy nose and a deep cough with weezing. There was very little mucus production. Get to 2am this morning, and I wake up coughing with some mucus production but I cannot catch my breath. It was like my airway was constricted. My wife thought I was having an asthma attack. But I have never had asthma. Any thoughts?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of stuffy nose, deep cough and breathlessness which is due to upper respiratory tract infection which is leading to bronchitis/ granular pharyngitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take all preventive measures such as take steam inhalation thrice a day. Do warm saline gargles and avoid use of sharp and spicy food substances. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. if symptoms keeps on persisting you should consult pulmonologist once and take proper treatment. You should get X-ray chest done along with pulmonary function tests. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 5 days along with decongestant.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
