What Are Symptoms Of COPD?

About 4.5 months ago I developed severe cough and phlegm generation problem. No shortness of breath that I can notice, however, I have little energy now. I had a cough before that due to long time smoking. I quit smoking 8 months ago. Can it be the COPD? Thanks.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.
Diagnosis of COPD is made by exertional dyspnea, cough, chronic sputum production, exposure to certain risk factors like smoking, environmental pollution, bio-mass fuel exposure along with compatible spirometry like obstructive airway changes without reversibility. Quitting smoking for 8 months does not exclude the diagnosis of COPD. You should have a spirometry done and get yourself examined by a pulmonologist.
Thank you.
Regards,
Dr Arnab Maji
