What Are The Causes And Treatment For Opacification Of Right Mastoid Air Cells?
Hi, I AM JASPAL KAUR 42 YRS. I HAVE A PROBLEM RELATED TO MY EARS . I GOT AN X-RAY DONE IT SHOWED THERE IS OPACIFICATION OF RIGHT MASTOID AIR CELLS. LEFT STYLOID PROCESS IS LONG . WHAT IS THE SAFEST CURE FOR THIS? I FACE PROBLEMS LIKE CHOKING PAIN IN THE THROAT HEADACHE .
Hi sir, thanks for the query. Chronic ear infection or congenitally there can be opacification/ sclerosis of the mastoid air cell. If infection is there, then that has to be treated with antibiotics. There is no treatment needed for opacification of mastoid until and unless it is causing problem of ear infection. Congenital sclerosis of mastoid does not need any treatment. Your throat pain and headache is because of your elongated styloid process. That needs surgical excision. Consult your doctor for the surgery.
