What Are The Chances Of Getting HIV/STD After Having Protected Sex?

Hello Doctor,

I had protected sex (Latex condom, no break , only vaginal sex) with massage girl in china, I asked her HIV status and she said, she is a clean girl (No HIV), but I don't know the exact status. So please clarify my doubts.
1) What is my risk to get HIV and other STD?
2) Whether I need to take any HIV test ? (30 days are over and I didn't get any fever like symptoms)
3) How effective, If I take test after 30 days ?

I am really waiting for your reply.

Thanks..

Thank you for query. The chances of transmission of HIV by sexual route is 1/ 200 to 1/2000 even if the partner is HIV infected. It is least if you have protected intercourse. The other STDs can be prevented by condoms but only herpes can spread through even skin to skin contact especially if there are active lesions in either of them.If no symptoms you need not bother of any tests even herpes as it would have manifested by now.You can go for HIV RNA PCR if you have anxiety for HIV at this 30 days period .it has high specificity. You can get back for any clarifications.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist.
