What Are The Diseases That Mimic The Symptoms Of Primary Hyper Parathyroidism?
Greetings Am looking for other diseases that could be mimicking primary hyper parathyroid ism....Seams to be in the sub clinical stages , and have all the above mentioned symptoms including osteoporosis ,svt, etc,,,,slowly health deteriorating .On waiting list 3 months now to see an endocrinologist and our famous Canadian health care forbids me in branching out into the private sector to seek a medical diagnosis . Thank you..

Raised PTH ( parathyroid hormone) is seen in a number of disorders.
Primary, secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism. Low Vitamin D and low calcium are causes of raised PTH level. Kidney dysfunction causing phosphate retention is another cause of raised PTH. Excessive excretion of calcium in urine ( hypercalciuria) can also push PTH levels high. an endocrinologist need to examine you and run a number of tests like calcium, albumin, phosphate level, alkaline phosphatse, urine calcium/creatinine ratio, Xrays, some times a DXA scan etc to come to a diagnosis. Some times familial Hypocalciuric Hypercalcemia ( FHH) also can mimic primary hyperparathyroidism
