Hello As you mentioned that you are advised to take ZOSYN i.e. piperacillin 4 gm+tazobactam 0.5 gm. The most important side effect of ZOSYN is platelet mediated bleeding i.e decrease in platelets . Platelets regulate bleeding in our body , if it decreases and count become 20000 , patient starts bleeding ( in some case bleeding don t start ) . So when you take this drug please get in blood examination for platelets count daily and maintain it 150000-450000 cmm . If it starts decreasing immediately consult your treating doctor and get his opinion. But I have noted in my so many patient that zosyn don t causes such type of bleeding , normally first 5-7 days ( exception may be there). Hematuria means passing of blood in urine due to many reasons . Hematuria is not a disease , rather it is symptoms , which may be due to other so many diseases from blood disorder , tuberculosis , kidney stone to disease and so many diseases . Hematuria in itself is not a malignant disease. Good luck .
