Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am a 45 year old woman. My health concern is with my feces-when I move my bowels my feces is brownish yellow (some days more yellow than others). I noticed recently that my feces seems to contain fibers or strings. Also I am lactose intolerant but because of my age I still use milk and milk products in order to get calcium into my system. My mother recently passed from colon cancer. What could be going on with me?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are different reasons for this condition as:
- Intestine infection; Intestine worms; Partially digested or undigested ingredients of food; Inflammatory bowel disease; and other shedded epithelial cells or abnormality.
It needs primary evaluation with stool microscopy examination. Colonoscopy may be required or not will depend upon the findings of the investigation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
