What Are The Findings Of The CT Scan Report?

I had CT THORACIC AND LUMBER SPINE It read L1-2 Rudimentary ribs atthe L1 vertebra. no significant degenerate change. L2-3:Minimal degenerate change L3-4:Minimal degenerate change. There is mild annular laxity of the disc causing very minor narrowing of the neural formina. L4-5:mild annular laxity of disc. L5-S1Abnormal appearance to the left L5 facet. Presumably developmental. There is moderate narrowing oftheleft lateral recess which resultsfrom the developmental apperance. Minimal degenerate change. Conclusion: Mild degenerative change as discussed. Likely developmental abnormality at the L5/S1 facet region. I am confused to what it means can you explain it to me please if you can.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us

According to history you have degenerative disc disease of spine.
Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.

1.At L1-2 level there is rudimentary ribs at the L1 vertebral level. There is no significant degenerative changes.

2.At L2-3 and L3-4 level there is minimal degenerative changes. There is also very minor narrowing of the neural foramen due to annular laxity.

3. At L4-5 level there is mild annular laxity of disc.

4.There is likely developmental abnormality at the L5/S1 facet region.

Treatment for degenerative lumbar disease includes physiotherapy or surgery.
Effectiveness of both modalities are same. So,physiotherpay should be tried first. It causes strengthening of Para spinal muscles and it prevents further changes.

Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurosurgeon.
You should also modify your posture while sitting.
Get well soon.

Take Care
