Hi,
Fluticasone nasal spray is a steroid nasal spray for cold like symptoms caused by
allergic rhinitis. This is inflammation of the inside of the nose that can be from hay fever. Fluticasone is a type of medicine called a steroid or corticosteroid that may help to shrink nasal polyps. Fluticasone intranasal sprays are safe for long time use and there is little evidence to indicate they cause significant systemic side effects. However, the patients who might use them for long durations should be advised to only intermittently use them and at the lowest dose just to controls their symptoms. Don't use it continuously for more than 1 month without speaking to your doctor. The longer you use an intranasal spray containing steroid like Fluticasone, the more likely you are to get the unwanted side effects.
The long term side effects of the Fluticasone intranasal spray are dryness and irritation of eyes,
conjunctivitis,
blurred vision, glaucoma, raised
intraocular pressure, cataracts, eye pain, blindness, bone fractures, excess facial hair in women, fullness or roundness of the face, neck or trunk, growth reduction in children or teenagers, heart problems,
high blood pressure,
chronic sinusitis, increased blood sugar, delayed
wound healing etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
