Dear sir

There are so many precautions to prevent heart attack and stroke like

1. Control blood pressure - below 130/80
2. Control LDL cholesterol - below 100 mg/dl
3. Control Blood sugars with in normal range - below 180 mg/dl.

If you want to determine atherosclerosis then you need to following tests
1. coronary calcium scoring.
2. Carotid doppler tests

The following precaution can be taken if there is any evidence of atherosclerosis.

1. Initiation of statins like atorvastatin
2. Initiation of ACE inhibitors

Thanks
