What Are The Precautions To Taken For Sulfa Drug Allergy?

Hi, I ve been doing research on Sulfa and Sulfites, and I think I m allergic to both. I ve had allergic reactions where my throat closes and can t swallow or breathe for a few minutes on and off. I don t have it with wine but wine has sulfites, I am constantly bloated, would wine not have the same anaphylactic response? I had reactions to Sulfa meds, but also roses lime juice and margarita mix which has sodium benzonate, polysorbate 60, sodium metabisulfite, sodium bisulfite, sulfur dioxide, which is how I came to believe I m allergic to Sulfites.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If you don't have the reaction with wine then the active or inactive ingredients in wine cannot be causing this problem.

Severe allergic reaction should be investigated by allergy testing to find out the exact cause. Allergy testing can be blood tests or skin prick testing.

If you can determine the exact source of your reaction then your exposure can be limited.

I hope this helps
