What Are The Prognosis Thyroid And Polymyositis With Nerve Problems?

My mom never had any problem but in October she had to have a stint put in her heart found out she has thyroid (high) and polymyositis with nerve problems. She just turned 70 and is really losing weight her blood sugar is high was at a good level until the steroids she is taking so she is on insulin what kind of things can we expect she doesn t have much quality of life and it s killing her

In polymyositis, you will have to take Hugh dose steroids to say 2 mg per kg. Naturally sugars will go high. Insulin especially NPH insulin in the morning will help a lot in bringing the steroid induced sugars to reasonable control. If there is hypothyroidism, you may have to take thyroxine. Along with that, she had to take vitamin d and calcium. As there is very good chance of osteoporosis, a bone mineral density test should be done and even if otherwise, she should be on bisphosphonates
