doctor my 3 month old son is having loose watery stools since 6 days. i have atarted pre & pro biotics & ofloxacin- ornidazole since 2 days. in how many days will i see improvement and what are the possible side eefects on these drugs. my babay seems to have developed a rash on his cheeks since 1 day.

hi, The diarrhea in children can be either - Viral,bacterial/lactose intollarance( here baby is irritated,screaming.& needs doctor's consultation)Viral diarrhea usually subsides with in 5 days. All diarrhea s demand good fluid replacement . Your baby is just 3 months old. You should consult a child specialist for the treatment advice after physical examination of baby.she may need investigations for diagnosis . Proper hydration is important in management of diarrhea . The baby if on breast feeding continue that.ORS to be used for replacing fluid . Antibiotics should be started with doctor's advice only. * Yes, the redness on babies cheeks can be due to allergy. Stop the medicines Continue ORS/breast feeding & take the baby to children specialist for his advice. Thanks.
