Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...hi my 3 yr old son has recently baan diagnosed wid a 1.5 cm hole in his heart..his ardiologist siad it just needs a small procedure..ud u pls tell me if this is a common problm n the risks involved..
Hi, the appropriate age to operate in case of ASD or VSD is around 3 to 4 years. Size of hole is 1.5 cm, in my opinion this is the right time for operation. Every surgery has some risks, i think you should operate the child. There are no major complications of this surgery. I hope this has helped you. Wishing your child good health. Take care.
Hi.... by what you Quote I feel that your kid might be having a VSD or ASD. Latest management of child with such small lesions which you have mentioned in your query is - device closure. It is not a major procedure and this is not a open heart surgery. Coming to your query about the commonness of the hole in the heart it is not a very uncommon condition. The device closure procedures have become very common and the kid will do very well after the procedure. I suggest you go ahead with the option given by your cardiologist. Regards - Dr. Sumanth
