What Are The Risks Of Being On Gilenya And Celexa?
I have been on Gilenya for about 3 months now and was told I couldn t take celexa with the gilenya by my pcp but my neurologist said I was ok to take these meds together. I read a review that these drugs interacted with each other and have been but on welbutrin for my anxiety. Celexa was the best drug for me for my anxiety and have not been able to control my anxiety with the current medication therapy. What are the risks of being on gilenya and celexa?
The only problem with combining Gilenya and Celexa is the risk of developing a cardiac arrythmia called torsades de pointes. It usually presents as palpitations, dizziness and syncope. Most episodes revert back to normal sinus rhythm in a few seconds, but in severe cases, it can result in sudden death. I guess your doctor must have done your electrocardiography (ECG) and having found it to be normal, advised you to continue with the combination.
Best wishes.
