What Are The Side Effects Of Evista?

My doctor prescribed Evista because my osteoporosis has gotten worse, particularly affecting my spine. I have 1 kidney, am 69 years old, had hysterectomy 1994, never went thru menopause and stopped taking premarin around 2003. Do I need to be concerned about side effects, especially kidney situation.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Evista is a brand name of the drug called Raloxifen.
Raloxifen is relatively safe drug and side effects are very minimal. Common being flushing and leg cramps.
Raloxifen is primarily metabolized in liver and excreted through stool. So it doesn’t have any effect on kidneys. So it is very much safe in people with compromised renal status.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
