What Are The Side Effects Of Amoxicillin And Nuva Ring?
I started birth control(nuva ring) for the first time on Nov. 9 and the next day came down with step throat and was prescribed amoxicillin. One day later I started noticing vaginal irritation, like itching and secretion. I am not sure whether it s from the amoxicillin or if it s the nuva ring. Any suggestions?

Hi,
If you take broad spectrum antibiotics like Amoxicillin to fight off another infection, they can also kill the healthy bacteria that keep the yeast in check. So, Amoxicillin can cause vaginal itching, irritation and discharge commonly known as a yeast infection. Again, Nuvaring contains both ethinyl estradiol and etonogestrel which can cause symptoms of vaginal yeast infection like itching, irritation or unusual discharge as its side effects. Don't stop taking these medications abruptly. Before stopping these medications consult the prescribing doctor.
