What Are The Side Effects Of An Abortion?

Hi Doctor, Me and my would be had sex on 12th of September and her last day of period was 31st Aug. Now she says her periods is delayed and she think she is pregnant. We haven't done any pregnancy test yet. I work abroad and she is in India. Is there any way that we can go for abortion?? If yes how much time does the whole procedure take and what are the expected consequences/ side effects. She lives in a college hostel so I need to make sure it does not affect at all. Thank you

Hi, thanks for using HCM..
I understand your concern. Get a preg test done.. If positive it is important to know the period of gestation and to know whether it is Intrauterine or extrauterine pregnancy. If the period of gestation is less than 7 weeks, medical method of abortion can be used but if its greater than 7 weeks surgical method is required.For medical method consult a gynae, its dangerous to take these drugs on your own. Bleeding starts with the 2nd tab and stops in a day or 2 , rpt scan need to be done after 14 days to see the completion of abortion. If GA>7 weeks Then D and C is required where admission for 1 day might be required.Hope i have answered ur queries.. Good day.
