General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi,
thank you for your query.
cypon syrup is used for Loss of appetite, weight loss, anorexia nervosa & as an adjunct with anti-tubercular regimen for weight gain.

Each 5 ml of Cypon syrup contains
Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride - 2mg
Tricholine citrate - 275 mg
Sorbitol - 2 gm

cyproheptadine is the major component which stimulates the appetite and helps in weight gain.

it should be taken in doses of under 8 mg.
As with doses of more than 8–12 mg per day taken for 5 days suppression of growth hormone has been seen
Other common side effects include:
Dizziness
Blurred vision
Constipation
Dry mouth, throat, or nose
Excitability
Nausea
Nervousness
Restlessness

so i would suggest you to give your child the syrup in moderation and not continuously.also look out for the side effects.

thank you,
wishing you good health
