What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Marijuana With Bi-polar Medication?

My 13 yr old son has bipolar and is on lithium,Zoloft and latuda. I know he has tried marijuana and I am very concerned of the effects this May have on him, marijuana and the medications interacting with each other. What are the possible side effects?

I understand that you are concerned about your son's marijuana use and the potential harm of taking street drugs when on psychiatric medication. Taking street drugs like marijuana while already on prescription medication can result in harmful effects.

One is that it can affect the absorption and metabolism of the prescription medication. Another is that it can cause adverse drug-drug interactions.
Another possibility is that marijuana can have unpredictable effects on mood and can result in unwanted mood fluctuations also. So, please convince your son not to take the street drugs.
