What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Medicines For Underactive Thyroid?
2 years ago I was told I had under active thyroid, when i started taking the tablets or around the same time i started having, or what i thought i was having was side effects to the tablets. However when ive typed the side effects in online it has led to PCOS. Is there any information you could give me and is there any tests so i could find out if i definitely have it ?
I have gone carefully through your concern. To confirm the diagnosis of PCOS, clinical symptoms, blood exams and a pelvic ultrasound is helpful.
If you have irregular menstrual cycle and hirsutism or acne, the diagnosis is very likely. A high testostetone level and the presence of multiple cysts in both ovaries confirm the diagnosis.
If thyroid hormones are within the normal ranges with the actual dose of levothyroxine, than it is excluded as a cause of irregular menstrual cycle.
Hope the information will help.
Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
