Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 8 year old daughter is a very fussy eater. She says she likes certain foods e.g tonight it was beef, mashed potatoes and carrots. She usually loves it, however tonight she just said she feels sick and scowls at the food. This has progressed over about 6 months now and im worried she is in early progression of an eating disorder. Whats your thoughts please? Thanks Steven
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
I understand that you are worried about the possibility of your daughter developing an eating disorder. Merely dislike of certain foods or being fussy about eating DOES NOT indicate an eating disorder. It is very common for young children of this age group to be fussy about eating and to refuse certain types of foods.
So, I think you are becoming overanxious about this issue and so I would advise you not to worry about so much. You can try being more firm about her food habits and using a method of positive reinforcement, you can gradually get her to eat more healthy.
