i am 31 5'8" and weigh 135 i have had this rash on my legs they are no bigger then a silver dollar and as small as a dime and red in color. they are mainly from my knee cap down i have had them for over a month now and for the past two weeks i have had a headache that pounds from back of my ear down my neck to a little above the top of my shoulder blades. i have also noticed that i have been more tired the past month. Should I be worried enough to go to the ER or make an appointment with my family Dr ???

Hello,

The rashes can be due to any of the skin conditions like heat rash, eczema, fungal infection, dermatitis, venous stasis dermatitis, psoriasis, insect bite, scabies, etc. Get clinically examined by a dermatologist. Get required skin test and biopsy done. Recovery from skin infections takes time. Be aware of your hygiene. Take bath with medicated soap, avoid the use of harsh chemical soap or body / beauty products.

Do not scratch, touch or pick. After bath apply ointment Hydrocortisone on the affected area to get rid of itching. At bedtime apply ointment Clotrimazole or any other ointment containing steroid to prevent spread to other parts. You are also having pain in the shoulder blade, back, neck and ears.

The most common reason for such type of pain is poor posture, maintain proper posture while walking, sleeping, sitting. Muscle strain or muscle impingement, arthritis can also cause such pain. Do regular exercises, apply pain relieving ointment, apply pain relieving sprays, massage therapy, heat therapy along with exercises are helpful. Get imaging tests done and get clinically examined by a GP.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
