Orthostatic hypotension could be physiological when one gets up from lying down position suddenly due to peripheral piling of blood in lower limbs. It can be caused by certain drugs like nitrates used for treatment of hypertension. Symptoms include dizziness, light headed feeling and fainting spells. When getting up such individuals shouldn't stand up in one go, they should sit for sometime, take a few deep breaths, tilt head up and down slowly a couple of times and stand up slowly.
