What Are The Symptoms Of Clonidine Overdose?

If my 12 year old daughter took 4X the amount of clonidine than was prescribed (so she took 5 of her 1 miligrams pills) is she in danger of overdose? I am 600 miles away, she is with her 23 year old sister. My 12 year old is dramatic and says she is mad at me for not being at home right now so don t really know if she took the pills.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Clonidine is used for essential hypertension, the over dose of which can be alarming as
- altered heart rate
- profound hypotension
- syncope and collapse
- perspiration, vertigo
- arrhythmias in many instances.

She must seek medical attention immediately without waiting for your arrival.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
