The symptoms associated withTB affecting the lungs (pulmonary) are:
Evening rise of temperature with sweating, loss of appetite and
weight loss,
cough with or without sputum or blood, difficulty in breathing.
In view of raised
ESR and a positive
Mantoux test there is a strong possibility of the infection. Sputum analysis and Chest
X ray will confirm the diagnosis in presence of the above mentioned symptoms.
There is no dietary restriction as far as TB treatment is concerned.
However you are encouraged to take a healthy balanced diet (high protein intake in the form of egg, milk or meat), fruits and vegetables.
The duration of treatment may be 6-9 months depending upon the severity of the disease.
