Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dad will be 80 this sunday. He had a cholesterol embolism that destroyed his kidneys, is now in his feet. His heart muscle has been damaged(left side) his ef is 23%. His doctor says his whole insides look like his feet from the emboli. I think his prognosis is day to day but the doctors just say it is hard to say. No one will come right out and say. Just rencently he has been saying things that dont make any sense. I think maybe he is having small strokes when this happens, but I guess with everything else wrong with him the Doctors dont seem to worry about this. What is your opinion?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Amarnath's Response
Welcome to hcm., Stroke like thing or transient ischeic attack can have occured sluttering alone without paralysis of his one side arm and feet is not stroke. If both spluttering of voice and paralysis of one side is there then it is stroke. Very bad to know his EF is low. I advice to take an angiogram and evaluated. I advice to continue his drugs till then have a opinion with a cardiologist. Hope this explains With regards Dr.Amarnath
