hi my family doc. called me today and is trying to tell me that my 2 year old daughter has a thyroid problem. he found this out from one blood test that he wanted. how dose a 2 year old have a thyroid problem im haveing a very hard time rapping my head around this, always what are the sings and symptoms
Most of hypothyroidism patients are without symptoms. Developmental delay, short stature, weight gain and constipation are usual symptoms in this age.
Please let me know your thyroid function test reports. It is unusual to have hypothyroidism at this age if your new born thyroid screening tests are normal.
Usual dose in 2 year old is around 50-75 mcg of thyroxine - again depending on thyroid function reports.
