Hi,I am Dr. Robert Galamaga (Hematologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had a stress test which resulted in normal heart function. I'm presently on 10mg of norvasc, 12/5 htz, and potassium. I aim to lose 10-20lbs and try to get off these medications. My Cards Doc said that my BP was borderline (130/78 off meds) and that he thinks I have "white coat syndrome." Do you think it's worth a try...?
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. White coat syndrome is usually due to stress during test, which can give false readings. Multiple repeated testing can get blood pressure to normal, if its white coat syndrome. Anxiety or stress during testing are the usual symptoms. 2. Yes your blood pressure is slightly high and this is acceptable and would not require medication. 3. Weight loss along with moderate exercises and modification in diet with low salt should be adequate. You can loose those pounds, which will help in controlling the blood pressure. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
