Belsomra contains suvorexant that is used in the treatment of of insomnia characterized by difficulties with sleep onset or sleep maintenance. It is a selective antagonist for orexin receptors OX1R and OX2R that can be used in the treatment of sleeping difficulties and maintaining proper
sleep hygiene. Stop taking Belsomra abruptly may develop some unwanted side effects known as
withdrawal symptoms.
Withdrawal symptoms from Belsomra have proven to include rebound insomnia, abnormal dreams, anxiety,
dizziness, cough, dryness of mouth, diarrhea,
restlessness,
nervousness, irritability, headache, sweating etc. To avoid these unpleasant side effects, you should stop taking this medication gradually by tapering the dose after consulting your doctor first.
