Hello,
I can understand your concern. If you have stopped using the drug completely, there is a chance that the saliva production will return to normal as effect of
Meth can cause dryness of mouth and two weeks is not that long period of time to cause any irreversible damage in the body. I would recommend to withdraw the usage of the drug totally and not to go back to it at all.
As you are having discomfort due to
dry mouth dry now, I can give you some tips that can help you in the discomfort till the saliva production returns to normal. You can keep chewing sugarless chewing gum or suck on sugarless candy. You can also take
Pilocarpine pills that is available over the counter. The effect of this pill lasts for 3-4 hours and then you can repeat it. In addition, you can keep sipping small amounts of ice
cold water to keep your mouth wet.
It is good that you are keeping good
oral hygiene measures and continue it as deficiency of saliva can cause decayed teeth. If the problem does not solve in 2 weeks, then you should see a
dentist to look for other reasons that can cause dry mouth and treat them.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you feel better soon.
Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
