What Can Cause Inflammation Of Toes?

I have a foot pain in the top of my foot. it doesn't hurt whilst I am walking but it hurts on and off when I'm exercising. I play a lot of sport especially netball and football. I've looked on a few websites and the only one that sounds a bit similar is inflammation of the extensor tendons of the toes. Please may you give me your opinion.
Many Thanks

When all pain has gone a full rehabilitation program to strengthen the extensor muscles should be done. by doing certain exercises to strengthen
