What Can Cause Low White Blood Cell Count In A Child?

I have a grandson with a white cell count of 1, yes I mean 1. He has some sort of auto immune condition. Since he was born his highest white cell count has been 4, and by the way he is 3 years old. He has fevers that reach 107 and lands in the hospital with every one. He has seen every kind of dr. including rhumatology, hematology, immunologist, they all run the tests and none of them can answer our question. We want him to attend school and right now he cannot even be around other children. HELP
